About Me

My name is Rachel Whitbeck (she/her). I’m from Washington State in the US of A, but I’m a PhD student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Limerick. My research explores the lived experiences of lesbian, gay, and bisexual people in Ireland who identify as belonging to a minority ethnicity or faith.

Pre-PhD, I earned a Master’s in Race, Ethnicity, and Conflict from the Department of Sociology at Trinity College Dublin. I got my BA in Political Science from the George Washington University.

When I’m not doing research or teaching, I’m hanging out with my cat Cordelia while writing stories, baking, or playing video games. I also have friends and a day job. Very busy!
